I bought a Darjeeling tea that was produced 7 months ago. How is it still fresh?Updated 9 months ago
Tea, like fruits and vegetables, is a seasonal product. For instance, Darjeeling first flush teas are harvested only during the spring season (March to mid-May), and second flush/summer teas are produced from mid-May to the end of June. Despite their seasonal nature, these teas can still be purchased by our customers even in December.
Does that mean they aren't fresh and shouldn't be consumed? Absolutely not and that is why we are Teabox :) At Teabox, we ensure the freshness of our teas through an elaborate process and state-of-the-art infrastructure, unmatched in the industry. This means that even when you drink tea produced 7 months ago or more, it will taste as if it was just harvested.
We Have India's First 100% Transparent Procurement Tea Process
Just as no one enjoys stale fruits, tea that has aged or been poorly stored can lose its freshness and flavor. Fresh tea, like fresh fruits, offers a more vibrant and enjoyable taste experience.
We have developed a unique tea-sourcing process. We collaborate with iconic tea gardens across India, procuring teas within 24 to 48 hours of sampling and maintaining them at moisture levels below 3-4%.
Upon arrival, we conduct a rigorous quality control process, meticulously removing impurities through hand sorting by a team of highly trained women specialists. The tea is then stored in a climate-controlled environment where temperature and humidity are carefully regulated. We bulk vacuum pack the tea to prevent degradation of quality and freshness, as vacuum packing eliminates air contact. All of this is done within seven days of the tea being produced at the plantation.
We then vacuum pack the tea in small lots and ship it to our customers, ensuring they receive exceptionally fresh tea. This commitment to freshness results in a high-quality experience, offering a delightful taste unlike anything they have tried before. The superior quality and enjoyment of our teas are directly due to their unparalleled freshness. 😊
